Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Marine Well Containment Company: MWCC maintains a capping system for the Gulf of Mexico that is tested and maintained in a continuous state of readiness for mobilization. In the event of an incident, MWCC will provide the Responsible Party (RP) with subsea equipment, including risers, dispersant and hydraulic manifolds, as well as the capping stack. MWCC maintains a list of mutual aid equipment, which will be made available to the RP in the event of a deepwater well control incident.
- Subsea Well Response Project (SWRP): An initiative of nine major oil and gas companies to design an internationally deployable capping and dispersant toolbox, and to explore the need for, and feasibility of, a shared containment system. The first elements of that intervention system are now available to the industryincluding four capping stack toolboxes and two kits for debris clearing and the subsea application of dispersant.
- Helix Well Containment Group (HWCG): HWCG is a consortium of 16 deepwater operators in the Gulf of Mexico who have come together with the common goal of expanding capabilities to quickly and comprehensively respond to a subsea incident. The consortium functions as a Mutual Aid program, creating a shared pool of assets, personnel, and technical resources for use during an incident. HWCG has contracts with more than 30 service companies to provide additional expertise, assistance and equipment.
